Guest Posted March 19, 2012 Share Posted March 19, 2012 PLEASE HELP ME!! I am covering in a nursery class and am trying to unpick the statements for 40-60 months for the 6 areas. I understand what you mean about them being broad, but I think that is a good thing, as it stops us using them as a ticklist! Try to find a "best fit" between your observations of the children, and the age bands, or maybe think in terms of emerging, developing and secure achievements within the age-band, possibly? catma Posted June 10, 2012 Share Posted June 10, 2012 It's helpful to be aware that national expectations would describe children at entry into reception as being secure in 30 - 50 and emerging 40 - 60. It would be less likely that they would be secure in 40 - 60 as this would be linked to the end of EYFS expectations so you would be describing a child as being at the same level of skills as a child going into yr1 if you summarise their attainment as such.
