Madmum Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Hi! I am a TA in a maintained nursery. It was suggested to me that due to some fo the lovley tasks I do, I should have been offered a Hep B vaccination by my employer, and the nurse at my GP agreed. However, my Headteacher asked Occ Health at the LA who siad it wasn't needed as Hep B requires blood to blood contact. Just wondered if anyone else has been advised to have this!! Madmum
Jo A Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I work in a playgroup and we were recommended to have it 5 years ago and all went for it. We are now due booster jabs but have not heard anything, also it seems we have to pay for it now.
Guest Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) I was also recommended to have it by someone and I spoke to my GP, who then advised me not to. He didn't dismiss it out of hand but said that given where I worked and the fact he knew the general health profile of the community it wouldn't be a recommendation he would go along with. He did then jab me for MMR and told me to tell the whole staff team to get done too unless they had evidence they had been done or had the illnesses. It might be worth speaking to your GP to see if a charge will be made as I was told by mine that if he had thought it neccessary he wouldn't have charged for it. Edited February 29, 2012 by Guest
