emmajess Posted January 15, 2012 Share Posted January 15, 2012 Does anyone use numicon, with the activities and everything and find that it doesn't correspond with the EYFS and Profile statements for PSRN? It seems to me that it is great in that it develops a really deep understanding of number that is very secure and embedded and can them be built on later to develop concepts of calculating, decimals etc. The problem I have is that in developing this deep understanding, a lot of time is spent on becoming familiar with the plates and it goes much more slowly than is necessary to 'cover' the EYFS statements, particularly in calculating. Lots of the EYFS calculating statements seem to be addressed in Numicon in Year 1. Am I mistaken or is there a bit of a disparity, and how do you manage it?
