Guest
Anybody got any practial tips or words of advice about how to deal with staff who will do anything to avoid a direct interaction with the children......they are often found out of ratio etc etc The staff member in question is actually a room leader so this is causing a lot of resentment from other staff. She has been verbally spoken to (in a kind manner) about what we expect of her, but we are now wondering what the next step is.....perhaps it is to do with her confidence? how can we best support her? any ideas appreciated! Deb
I would suggest a supervisory meeting or appraisal to go over the job description to make sure she is aware of her responsibilities. Ask her to set targets as how she can meet these responsibilities and use these targets to monitor her progress in a review with a weekly/fortnightly/monthly meeting. Arrange training if that will help. I've spent the past 2 years trying to motivate certain staff members, and have finally gone down this road which is having positive results. After all it is fraud to take a wage and not do the job. Hope this doesn't sound too harsh, the meeting can be done with a view to helping the member of staff to fulfil her role. hali
As Deb says you need to start supervisions with the threat of written warnings if her job description is not followed ... hard but needed to keep other moral up!
