Hi,need a little help on this please;


how to make the best of indoor and outdoor enviroments in implementing plans.

Any ideas

Hi Cathy,

I know many practitioners go round in circles when considering indoor and outdoor provision; I certainly do :o

In our nursery, we've gone from planning separate activities for outdoors, to trying to combine activities that will work in either venue, to not planning anything outside and following the children's interests at the time.


I still don't think we have it right. We've recently talked about having just one planned activity outside per week, adult-led, and "planning on the spot" for everything else.


Do you have a free-flow in/out system in your setting? We offer this occasionally, but never seem to keep it up! I know it can work beautifully when it's well organised, with enough staff.
