janebe Posted June 7, 2011 Share Posted June 7, 2011 There's a lovely simple money game on this website... http://ictgames.com/moneysplat.html - you have to choose the hand with the correct money and then it makes a great "splat!" A simple thing that we do to encourage the children to recognise coins is to get them to 'pay' for their snack every day - we put up a sign e.g "Today, snacks are 5p" and the children happily choose the correct fake money coin. We change the coin every day and sometimes ask for multiple coin payments e.g. 3p or 4p. This is developed during the year by having different prices for different fruit / milk so it really works like a shop - it runs itself really.
