Annie-pops Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Hi all - am trying to save myself a bit of time over by the weekend by picking your brains! We don't appear to have a looked after children policy and we need one! Can anyone suggest things I may need to include in it: I prob need to put about our duty of care to promote academic acheivment of children in care (think this is statutory duty of the LA to acknowledge and readress the balance that the children in care, statistically, do less well than children not in the care system), about working with carers/ social worker/ family where appropriate etc,/ ensuring you represent and value the childs individual circumstnces. and contribute where required to the child's care plan / personal education plan; but not sure what else I should cover. Anyone got any thoughts or useful insights on this. Many thanks in advance xx
Fredbear Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Hi the Pre-School Learning Alliance have a section on Looked after children within the Policy Documents publication under Safeguarding and Children's Welfare maybe worth a look.
