Guest
Hi there I am a final year student, 5 weeks from qualifying as a Primary teacher, specialising in Early Years! I am applying for a job in North Wales and need to know about the Foundation Stage in Wales. I cant seem to find much information online - does any one know where I can find the Foundation Stage Curriculum guidance? Does it differ much to the EYFS? Many thanks for your help in advance! :-)
Steve
Hi misslgrace - and welcome to the Forum! In Wales, the equivalent to the EYFS is called the Foundation Phase. It's not quite the same as the EYFS in several ways, not least that it covers the age group 3 - 7 rather than 0 - 5. You can find more information about it here. I don't think it's as universally adopted either - for a start it's not, as far as I'm aware, statutory. Hope that helps - good luck with your interview (and of course your degree!). I wish the review would suggest extending the EYFS here until the age of 7!
Steve
Paragraph 4.25 does say that significant numbers of practitioners would like to see the EYFS extended to the end of year 1 your Madgesty.
