We sing "Lets say goodbye to (child's Christian name),"Lets say goodbye to (child's name),"Lets say goodbye to (child's name) we've had a lovely day" continue until you have named all the children. You can also use it to welcome the children in a morning, just substitute goodbye for hello. Can't help with the tune though, just sang it to my daughter hoping she could name it and all she said was "What tune"! Cheek!

We sing Oh its time to go on home now so goodbye ( wave )

Oh its time to go on home now so goodbye ( wave)

Oh its been a lot of fun

But now its time to run

Oh its time to go on home now so goodbye.

We sing this to the tune of She'l be coming round the mountain. The children enjoy singing it and changing the tempo sometimes fast then very slow.

We do the following, with actions (Makaton)

Goodbye everyone, time to go,

Goodbye everyone, time to go, Goodbye everyone, time to go,

Time to say goodbye.

Then..goodbye names individually with a wave as Start posted earlier. I might try Jackie's as a variation!

We sing (to the tune from Andy Pandy- showing my age)

Time to go home

Time to go home

Children in nursery it's time to go home

Time to stop play

Just for today

Teachers are waving goodbye (wave furiously)

Children are waving goodbye (those awake wave back)

When I was going thru an angst ridden time that nobody = parents other school staff, took nursery education seriously and I wanted to lose the word 'play'I did toy with

Time to go now

Time to go now

Got our coats on

Got our coats on

Say Goodbye

Say Goodbye

Back on (next day e.g. Wednesday)

Back on Wednesday (tune London's Burning

Got my comeuppance on that because the weather was hot and everyone started saying, 'Amber's not wearing a coat', 'my mummy says it's too hot to wear a coat' etc, etc etc.

PS What I'd really like to do is the goodbye song from The Sound of Music

cos I fancy myself as Julie Andrews.

Steve can I change my name to Maria?

Ours is:

The clock says 'tick tock'

The clock says 'tick tock'

The clock says 'tick tock' - its time to say goodbye

Goodbye Child A, goodbye Child B, goodbye Child C, its time to say goodbye

This is repeated, saying goodbye to the children in batches of three until we've said goodbye to everyone. As we sing we get faster and faster towards the end, and the children make waving signs - a bit like the hand on a clock face - with both hands in time to the song.

When we sing each child's name we wave goodbye to them individually.

Loses something without the tune, I'm afraid!

Time to go home

People are waiting (point to parents / carers at door)

"Do you know what time it is

what time it is, what time it is?

Do you know what time it is...its time for going home..." bit strange but the children love it and were singing it before I got there. :D

We sing to the tune of 'Nice one Cyril' and I wonder if that's the tune for Star's song too...?

Ours just goes

'Goodbye Child A, Goodbye Child B, Goodbye Child C, it's time for you to go.'

Simple but they love it! We often choose a child to come up and sing it so they can choose the children to go and get ready.

We sing Goodbye (child's name) goodbye (child 2's name) glad that you were here, goodbye (child 3) goodbye (child4) glad that you were here. (say "join in") sing aye aye aye aye aye glad that you were here (x2) then continue on down the line until you've done all the names. The children love it and join in well. Then go out beaming and feeling glad about each other.
