Beckyboo7
Hi all, First of all, not sure if this post is in the right area! As the new EYP in my setting I am being asked to evaluate every area of provision in the toddler room and then suggest and implement changes. I wondered if anyone had any tips or advice for me regarding this task? A proforma or template would be great if anyone has anything like this! Thanks, Rebecca

Thanks, Rebecca Hi Rebecca I am looking for something similar. However already evaluated my story corner and by friday I shall have pictures of the new redeveloped area. Just need chance to get back into our usual rooms ( building work) so I can set up the old area and take pics before doing the old one
finleysmaid
you could do an ECERS audit (if you can pinch the book from someone!)
Guest
You could also take a range of observations of children's Well-being and involvement whilst in the areas (as in Laeven scale) and how often they visit the areas. Sorry, I do not have any templates.

Guest
I too like the ECERS stuff although I think for some it might be like marmite (love it or hate it)! What I really like about it is that you can see clearly what you can do to improve the environment after doing the audit. If you have some fellow professionals in nearby settings you could also work together to be the critical friend for each other's settings and give yourself a more detached view of your provision too. Beckyboo7
Thanks for the suggestions! I used the ITERS book a while ago in my last setting but never got the book back when I left so I think I may re-purchase this and carry out an audit!
