Would like to help Joanne what is PC

Is this anything to do with brushing teeth - managing in the toilet - providing a step or adapting toilet seat for little people.

Special needs children may follow picture clues better than verbal commands? Am I on the right track ???????????????????/

Absolutely Mimi. :D All settings should have a toilet suitable for a disabled person (wider door, low level sink and paper towel holder), but only give assistance if necessary. Sometimes you just have to write what you would do if you had a child with special needs to show you could deal with it if the situation arose. :)

Hi

Thanks for your ideas, a pc is a performance criteria that I must show I can or have meet. I was going to do 'what I would do for a child of 4 who was in a wheelchair with upper body movement and write about the disabled toliets and hoists if required also that I would want training in using the equipment and advice for parents and if the disability for very severe I would want medical advice as well. Do you think that will cover it.

Regards

Joanne

I think you should also mention height of activity tables in the main class room, are they the right height for a wheel chair, you can raise them up with longer legs, also think about getting the child out of the wheelchair and onto the floor for a period of time each session. They may get stiff sitting in the same position all the time. They may need some form of OT type activities.
