Guest
Hi everyone! I am a trainee teacher and I am going to be observed on Wednesday by head teacher. I have to deliver a lesson on 2D shapes with a WOW factor. Do you have any ideas? I need help as I don't want my lesson to be too simple or to overcomplicated. My class has got many EAL students. Thank you in advance.

Panders
Can't say it would have the wow factor and for yours it may be too easy, but at pre-school I have lots of 2d shapes made out of card and we put them down on the floor and play musical shapes, I play music and when it stops call out a shape for the children to hold up, then I choose one of the older ones to tell me something they know about the shape, they may say its name again, or tell me how many sides it has, or corners, or it's curved etc. If the children are very young and not very experienced I only put two different shapes down, if they have been playing it a number of times then I put down 4 or 5 different shapes for them to differentiate from.
