Guest
Hi. Am new to the forum and also to early years. Earlier on this year I took over a mixed age class of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Am just about getting my head above the water after doing both EYFS moderation last week and ks1 maths today. However, I don't feel very effecient with my planning and organisation and would dearly love some advice from anyone else who is in a similar position ( hopefully there are others of you out there!) I'm trying to plan across the whole class in the way that I would plan for Reception. However, this isn't completely practical as my year 2s have different needs and this has become harder in the last few weeks when we've been doing ks 1 tasks and tests. How does anyone else do it without going completely doo - lally and going round in circles? Hope someone can help
HappyMaz
Hi there! I have no expertise to offer, but I just wanted to welcome you to the Forum and congratulate you on making your first post. And to say that I love your username - how apt! We have lots of knowledgeable teachers here who will no doubt be along with sound advice shortly! Marion
I noticed these on my LA website http://eyfs.durhamlea.org.uk/21733 I haven't used them so can't recommend from personal experience
Guest
Thanks Marion, I'll have a look at those later. My other concern is that I need to make sure I'm getting a balance of topics so that the children in Reception don't revisit things when they are in year 2. Or does this not matter as they will be approaching it in a different way. Am a little muddled at the moment and need to get my head round all of this! Marion
I don't think it matters as they are going to re -visit with a whole set of new skills and knowledge in Y2. That's exactly what we do in life isn't it?
