HoneyPancakes
Have loved the topic on using real knives - cooking etc. Could someone help with risk assessment suggestions for these activities as I'm not yet confident enough to do my own. Many thanks, Fe
Guest jenpercy
Risk children cutting themselves Action Children taught knife safety. Knives never left unattended & locked away after use. Children closely supervised, working in groups of x with xx adult supervision. Knife safety how to carry a knife Never point hold largest part of veg NOT bit you are going to cut off tuck in fingers always use corrrect size knife for job - big enough but not too big if knife is too small you are more inclined to wiggle it or stab with it Remember that even tomatoes can have tougher skin, so it is sometimes more appropriate to give children half a piece to chop - on larger things such as potatoes - putting flat cut side down helps with stability
