miriam2
Hi all. This summer I will (hopefully!) have completed the Foundation Degree in EY education, differing views tell me that is level 4 or level 5! Whichever, it will make me that highest qualified practitioner in the setting (I am the leader) I feel I need/should broach the idea of a new pay scale, as no-one is above level 3 at present, but am mindful of the fact that we are a PVI preschool and not rolling in cash. It seems a bit greedy, as if I am just asking for a pay rise for myself! Any ideas how I could bring the subject up? We are committee run by the way.... Guest
I am sure the FD is level 5. And yes after all the hard work you deserve a pay rise....... even if it has to be a small manageable one!! Your hard work should be recognised!!!!!!!!! Your qualification level should be recognised too!! Are you doing the EYPS? There is money available in our county anyway to support those with the EYPS qualification in the settings.... don't know about the degree alone though. Well done you anyway!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck with the pay situation!!!
thumperrabbit
Go for it ask your committee, I don't know how knowledgeable they are but I find they are very much waiting for you as Leader to advise them - certainly when I started my time as an officer on the Committee we all very much relied on the Leader telling us everything we had to do as the handover hadn't been brilliant. Guest Spiral
Maybe discuss it further with your treasurer, bear in mind that any increase in pay will have to manageable after 2015 when the Leadership funding runs out - I know that's a hard one, but it has been a huge concern for a number of PVI settings, Spiral. HappyMaz
bear in mind that any increase in pay will have to manageable after 2015 when the Leadership funding runs out Is it guaranteed til 2010, spiral? I was under the impression that 2010/11 was the last year that funding would definitely be available. Maz

HappyMaz
Apologies, yep, 2010! Sorry, been one of Those days! Shame, on both counts! 2015 sounds quite attractive, don't you think? Maz
