Guest Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Hello, I've just had a welfare audit and it was suggested that I should have an IT policy. I hadn't rushed to do it as there is no internet access in the playroom [preschool] I was advised that there was a sample one on a local website but I can't locate it. I haven't been able to find one on here, either, although I'm sure I've seen one. Can anyone point me in the right direction, please, or post a sample if there isn't one? It would be great to have a starting point! Quote
Guest Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Sorry I don't have an answer but doesn't it annoy you a bit to be asked to create a policy that is not necessary? It strikes me as a knee jerk 'one size fits all' approach to demand you do this! There is loads of stuff on internet safety in schools - try doing a search for that and I'm sure you'll find something. Quote
Beau Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 There's one here aimed at Primary schools but it may give you a starting point. Quote
laura Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 We don't have internet access but here is our policy to give you a starting point ICT_Policy_old_word.doc Quote
Guest Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Thank you everyone for your help. I did eventually find one on the local site I mentioned and - guess what - it only mentions internet access! I am not amused! Well I suppose it won't hurt to do one, and I can assure you that your ideas are going to be a lot more useful than the one that was suggested! So thanks again! Quote
Deb Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Hi Weightman Having just got internet access at our setting, I am looking for a internet policy. Would you mind sharing the one you found on another site? Thanks!! Quote
Guest Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Hi there, It's on a local website: www.birthtofive.org.uk It was hard to find - under manual handling, safety or something similarly obscure. Failing that try the site for Homerton in Cambridgeshire. Hope that helps. Quote
