Implementing Eyfs In Special Schools

I have just taken on a new post implementing EYFS in a special school with children with a wide range of learning difficulties. I am beginning to realise that, whilst wishing to uplhold the principles of the foundation stage some aspects will be impossible to introduce. For example, child initiated learning ( most have 1:1 assistance) and free flow activities. Has anyone, or is anyone doing the same job as me?

Any advice welcomed!!! Nobody seems to have any answers on how to do this effectively!

Hi,

I don't know whereabouts you are in the country but I would suggest you get in touch with a place like 'Ilminster Specialist Nursery' in Bristol.

It's an LEA nursery but has a high proportion of children with additional needs. You might be able to visit or find somewhere nearer home like that.

Also try 'Opportunity Pre-schools' in your local area for advice.

Good luck- not an easy gig.
