Guest
Hi, I am looking into ways to involve children in the planning of their learning but am not sure how to do this! Once we have observed them, etc, and decided on a mini topic, I want to use their input to plan what they want to learn about. In the past, I have tried asking them at the start of topics, but I don't seem to get very far - perhaps with one or two very able children, but the others never seemed to 'get it'! Maybe it was how I was going about it, I don't know... Anyway, I found this about Talking and Thinking Books on the Mindstretchers site, and wondered if anyone has used this idea or knows anything about it? http://www.mindstretchers.co.uk/articles/floorbooks.html Or does anyone use any other methods that work well in involving the children? Thanks for any help! x
Upsy Daisy
I find that the best time to ask is when the are just finishing an activity or are running out of time. That's when they seem to be full of ideas of what they would like to do next to develop it. It has more of a context for them then.
