Hi all, like you all I expect I am on my last legs and I am now being observed in numeracy next week. I would be so grateful if you could share some ideas especially for a problem solving activity. It is a one of lesson so I am willing to try anything. Revision/outdoors/problem solving. My brain is dead. Thank you all so much

Not sure if this would be any good but we did a lovely problem solving activity based on the story 'old bear'.

I read the beginning of the story where the teddies decide to rescue old bear from the attic and then stopped and asked the class for their ideas on how to rescue old bear.

I had hidden a teddy on the top of a unit and asked the children if they could find a away to get him down (explaining he doesnt like to jump etc...) The children really enjoyed the task - lots of great ideas and problem solving, the children selected resources from around the classroom. There was lots of measuring to cut the correct length of string for him to climb down, measuring for ladders to be built etc...

Later in the day we read the end of the story to find out how they rescued old bear.

Good luck for the observation!
