Guest
Hi all, Just started thinking about drafting a Transition Policy that includes daily routine transitions, moving rooms within the setting and moving onto other settings/school. mrsbat
Hi all,Just started thinking about drafting a Transition Policy that includes daily routine transitions, moving rooms within the setting and moving onto other settings/school. Has anyone got one they would share to get me on the right track? This is ours, not sure if it is any help though lol Transition PolicyAt ***** Pre-school we recognise that the transition from one playroom to another and the transition from pre-school to primary school are significant events for the children and can affect both their self-confidence and feelings of security. We recognise that the transition process needs to be implemented gradually and as such the following policy is in operation: Children making the transition from the ***** room to the main room will be gradually integrated into the new room During the term before transition children will take part in story-time and music and movement in the main room Children will be introduced to staff in the main room and will take part in activities led by these staff If the move means that a child needs to change their key-person, both parents and child will have the opportunity to meet the new key- person and to plan for the child's development The child will have the opportunity to sample different routines such as the snack-bar system Children transferring to primary school will start to follow routines similar to those at school The teachers will pay a visit prior to the children visiting the school Key-people will talk to children about school using stories and pictures and build up a profile of what children are expecting from school. These will then be passed to the Reception teachers to help them plan activities for the visit Children will have two visits to school. Activities will then reflect their experiences. Staff will provide the Reception teachers with a developmental assessment of their key-children (with signed parental permission) Children may stay at pre-school until the maximum age limit for staring school if their parents feel this is in their best interests Additional support staff will accompany children with additional needs on visits to school Pre-school will pass on individual I.E.P.S. to Reception teachers with parental consent Key people and the Senco will attend transition meetings for individual children when required.
