Peer Interaction

Hello,

Looking into how earlys years children with SEN interact with their peers when in a mainstream setting. How teachers aid this? Any ideas for useful sources and references?

Thanks

hi Lou

from my observations in a reception class room I would say it varies considerably depending on the nature of SEN. For some children their social skills will not be far behind many of their peers and within the normal range for their age. I have recently had a little boy whose need was social interaction and his interaction was obviously very different. He was friendly but quite insular in many ways although this only really became a problem when things were not quite right. He could not cope unless everything went as he wanted it to.

Hi Louise,

I've nothing useful to contribute, I'm afraid - who said 'Do you ever?!?' - but I'm intrigued at your dual location, especially as Mansfield is 'reasonably' near me!

Saddo signing out!

Sue :D
