Evening all, just wondered if any one had some wonderful ideas for activities to get evidence for calculating, especially 30-50 months.Everyone at my setting really struggle with this one,i know they are not rocket science, but its just the way they are worded.

Thanks in advance

I struggle with this one too. I think it's not neccesarily because we don't provide the experiences that enable children to meet these points but they are more likely to be part of our everyday routines rather than planned activties so sometimes I forget to write my obseravtions up. I usually use snacktimes for calculating and maybe rhymes with props - 5 currant buns.

Sorry I haven't been of more help

hopefully there will be some good ideas along soon

to support the children in calculating, we purposely dont put enough of a resource out, then the child/ren usually come and tell us there isnt enought....snack cups, bowls, spades in the sand pit to go around, we then ask them how many more do you think we need. This week we have purposely filled the milk jugs only half full, the children have been telling us they need about 1 cupful more to be enough for everyone, we then add one more cupful and they drink it all up and then tell us they need 3 more cups etc

hope that makes sense
