Curriculum Planning For Babies And Toddlers

Hi there,

 

I run a Day care and After school unit for children from the age of 3 months to 6 years. I am ok with planning the curriculum for 3-6 year olds, but I am in the dark about planning curriculum for babies and toddlers.

 

Can someone help please?

Hi There and welcome

 

There are lots of threads already in the forum about planning for 0-3's. Try typing it into the seach forum posts section at the top right hand of the screen and it should bring them up for you to look at. Remember that it is EYFS and not Birth to Three guidance that we are using now so you'll just have to keep that in mind when looking through past posts.

 

Im sure someone else will be along to help and give you some ideas also

hi there, the way we do it is start by oberving babies and children holistically then from the obs workout which aspects and areas of learning you have covered using EYFS document, pick out what you think you the childneeds to develop next using the development matters guidance and then add implications for planning i.e what can you add to continuous provision next week to develop the piont you have made!

we use a continous provision planning sheet which includes links to observations (so it shows you are meeting individual babies childrens needs) then add which enhanced resourses you are including that week ( i.e what can you add to treasure baskets, books, interactivetoys warer sand constuctiion etc). also you can plan activities which must be linked to development matters statements (this is the learning objective)

If you look on the EYFS cd click on enabling environments then planning down the right hand side there is a link to resource for planning from birth
