When I first started running playgroup I used a similar system but after giving it some thought decided it was a complete nonsense. After that I used a three part tracking system which recorded if a child was 'Starting to work towards', 'Achieving often' or 'Achieving most of the time'. This seemed to be more meaningful to me.
