As will all cultures there are differences about practices between individual families. I am sure also the parents will be pleased to know that you are interested in their culture. Scroll down to Hinduism and you will find an excellent site ngfl cymru which I have been using for Hinduism - it is very simply put and very visual with some nice interactive activities.
