im applying for a role as a child development worker (am happy where i am but saw this and didnt want to miss the opportunity as it is something i want to do)

i need to show i understand the barriers in accessing high quality childcare for parents and providers

so far have thought of

for providers

want for highly qualified, trained and motivated staff vs the cost of achieving this

budget for resources

level/amount of training avaiable

understanding of relevent childcare issues and ensuring they keep up to date

marketing/advertising

understanding local needs

for parents

information provided to them

knowing what they can access

does this sound like the right type of thing?

any other ideas??

thank you asusual

Cost for parents too ~ parents on minimum wage can't afford childcare

accessibility ~ in my village there is no childcare so unless you have a car you can't access childcare

choice ~ in the village where I teach there is one day nursery with a poor reputation

a fear of form filling - for a variety of reasons - language, unable to read or write, may no want to be in a 'system' -re free places. Certain ethnic groups may not want true age identified as they want children+exented families kept together.

for providers;

Venue restrictions

access to outdoor play

Management structures ie lack of committee members

Parents:

available hours

beaurocracy (spl?) with childcare tax credits etc
