Hi

This is a question I should know the answer to but my mind has gone blank as wwe have just been told ofsted is comeing on Tuesday. I know how much child initiated time should be in reception but over two and half hour session in nursery what is the percentage of adult and child initiated?

HELP I've been through 3 ofsteds and it still is panic time.

Hey, don't panic, you must be an expert by now. :(:o

Not sure what the percentages are, but also never heard an Inspector refer to them either. xD I would say it depends on your particular group of children and their learning styles but would advocate more child initiated than adult led. Don't forget the routine adult led times, ie: register, lunch, snacks (if as a whole group) etc.

Best of luck, I'm sure you will be fine.

Hi fancy ful, as the others have said - don't panic about it. The whole point of the inspection process is them coming out to see what you do and then letting you know where you are doing well and what you might need to change/improve upon. They can't do this properly unless they see your setting as it usually is! So don't change anything, just go ahead as usual and look forward to the positive feedback and constructive advice you will get at the end of it. :o

Hi

Hope it all goes well on Tuesday - if it is any help we are told that 80% of the time in a session is child initiated and 20% adult initiated.

This was quoted to us by our old EYAT.
