Guest Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 I am a PGCE student specialising in early years and am looking for information and opinions relating to the role of storytelling in the early years setting, as well as literature which supports/refutes the importance of storytelling. Thanx for your help Annette Quote
Guest Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Hi Annette, We seem to be looking for the same kind of information. I have spent hours on the net and there is lots on storytelling, but not that much on how it impacts on the whole curriculum. I work with quite a number of children who have some problems with language in one way or another, so info on signing and storytelling would be useful. Have a look at 'The role of storytelling in early literacy development' a B.Ed paper by Louise Phillips on www.home.aone.net.au/stories/doc/childhd.htm Also look at Maria Montessori and Jerome Bruner and look on the National Literacy Trust and Times Ed sites. Good luck. Fiona Quote
Guest Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Hi I had a tutoe. Dr Carol Fox, a fantastic lady who wrote a book on story telling using her young son and a friend's daughter as subject matter..so to speak. Could be of some use. A search engine may show something up under her name. Good Luck Kate Quote
