Seem to have said yes to a KS1 teaching position for next term. Which teacher resources do you recommend( its some time since I taught in this age group!), please?

I like the Classworks literacy book from Nelson Thornes.

I'm in the same boat, so will look forward to sharing ideas! Which year group will it be? Have quite a few literacy resources if you want them. PM your email and I'll send them over.

Sorry Susan

I'm not sure whether they are any better than other books - I know that I went through a phase of changing year groups quite a lot while I was on and off maternity leaves and I just kind of "fitted" with the Classworks books – they were very hot on overtly teaching children the features of different text types and lots of reading before they write which I really liked. I've been in Foundation for 2 and 1/2 years now though so there may be more good things out there.

Year 1s are nice though - I'm sure you'll have fun!

Thanks Marion. I was wondering about those texts but always nice to have them recommended!

Kaloufl, no apologies needed. Thanks for your advice. Ive got a Numeracy Classworks which I have to admit I dont use that often but Ive not used my Scholastic "100" lessons very much either as I dont like the rather prescriptive nature of those. Thanks for your help.

Tracylu email received, thanks! Nice to know theres someone else out there!

Pie's writing models are brill, too. His Jumpstart series of books are good for little games to make things like spelling and sentence work more fun. I think there's a new one on creativity now too.
