Serena
I am registered as a childminder working with multiple assistants. My registration states that l can leave assistants in sole charge of the children with prior written consent from parents. l am wanting to go away for five weeks hoping to leave two of my assistants in charge. Now, having lots of headache with this. So much conflicting information. Rang Ofsted. In the first instance was told just to apply for a variation. Second instance was told to register both girls as registered childminders. They both are level 3 qualified doing the foundation degree at the moment and attended lots of training courses. One of them is the deputy and the other the supervisor. My job is mostly admin. They are very capable with the deputy working here for the last 8 years. Decided to register them as childminders. Here again conflicting information from the Early Years. I was told by one person that they have to go through an initial one hour session, then a briefing session. Upon completion then they will be given a cm1 form to fill. I was under the impression that this is for new childminders. My problem is that l need to go on June 30th. Any suggestions or advice will be gladly received.
Beau
Hi Serena, I'm afraid I can't help you with your query but I'm going to move this into the Childminding section where hopefully other childminders will see your post and perhaps have some words of wisdom. The only thing I can suggest is that you get a definitive written answer from Ofsted so that you are covered if someone comes back and disagrees in the future! Hi serena I think registering them is the best thing to do. My early years service also prefers potential childminders to attend briefing sessions, however they also acknowledge that the necessary forms are on Ofsted's website to download. I think this will be a quicker option for you but I would also ring Ofsted to see if end of june is possible, it should be as they seem to average about 12 weeks Cathy
