hi ger and welcome.

Have you tried a forum search as this has been discussed many times before.

I have just bought a very usable book by Jim Hall.. PE in Reception which covers dance, gym and games.

Im going to move this into the curriculum area!

I have just been on a Top Start course(Youth Sports Trust) which was brilliant. A set of cards give lots of ideas for the 3-5 age group and there are suggestions for lovely bright equipment. Highly recommended if a course comes your way.

British Gymnastics do an ideal programme for Foundation stage called Fundementals. we have been lucky enough in our school to have a coach come in and deliver lessons linked to stories via gymnastic moves. It was great and very child friendly. i'm in nursery, and is focussed on gymnastics but can be adapted for other areas of development. Hope this helps.

At my school we use some units that the local advisory service have put together. They have some really good ones for Games in FS and some great dance ideas. The games plans are particularly great as they have a column for development points, another for extending children and another for ideas for children who are finding tasks difficult. So they are fantastic for a non-specialist in PE. They don't have any gym units at the moment though. They are written by the Cambridge Advisory service and I know you can definately order a copy if you are out of county.

We have got the LCP file for Foundation Physical development - comes with CD's and is pretty good. We don't follow it week by week as we are a Unit and often mix age groups. However it's good to use as a resource for ideas.
