Guest whizzbang
HI THERE, I HAVE AN INTERVIEW COMING UP, THEY WANT ME TO TEACH A LESSON - ANY YEAR GROUP, ANY SUBJECT, ANY OBJECTIVE THEN DO A PRESENTATION THEN AN INTERVIEW THE LESSON WILL BE 30 MINS - TOO LONG FOR A CARPET SESSION, NOT LONG ENOUGH FOR GROUP WORK . . . . SO IT HAS TO HAVE THE WOW FACTOR. I CURRENTLY TEACH FS 2, THE INTERVIEW IS FOR A POOL SO COULD RESULT IN A JOB IN ANY YEAR GROUP. HAVE BEEN THINKING I COULD EITHER; 1. DRESS UP AS A CHARACTER (POSS TEACHING Y1?) 2. TAKE A BIG BOX OF AUTUMN LEAVES IN AND HIDE THINGS INSIDE 3. DO SOMETHING ON FANTASY, USE A MAGIC KEY - WHERE DOES IT LEAD ETC. IN GROUPS CHILDREN COULD BRAINSTORM WHAT THEY WOULD SEE, HEAR, FEEL ETC. - MAYBE QWITH Y1/ 2 WHAT DO YOU THINK?? HAVE TO LET THEM KNOW WHICH Y GROUP AND LESSON I WILL BE TEACHING TOMMORROW OR MONDAY LATEST! THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU IN ADVANCE IF I HAVE ANY REPLIES!! Guest
Hello Dressing up as a character sounds exciting !! That gears itself more towards 'ceative cirricullum' which seems to engage everyone especially the boys!!! Also the magic key idea!! I think you have already thought of some fantastic ideas. Good Luck
Susan
Hi, I like the magic key idea. I wouldnt want to dress up but if you like that sort of thing that could be successful and original. What would you want the children to get out of it though. If you want the children to record/write for themselves, you might be better with a year 2 class? Good luck. Guest whizzbang
OK, Now have more info: I will be teaching Year Two, literacy (great havent taught them in 8 years!!) Also presentation on 'how the primary strategy has influenced my classroom teaching!' Been given another good idea for my lesson - trouble is with all the new practises in place at the mo will have to bang on about my objective, fit in assessment for learning and a lot of VAK teaching all in 30 mins - why are these things so simple when you are teaching you own class but a headache when it matters??!! x
