Primary Framework For Literacy & Mathematics

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum so i am keen to get advice from other Reception Teachers. I don't know whether it is just me but I have been finding the dfes website a bit of a mind field regarding trying to plan literacy and numeracy for next term using the interactive planning tool. How is everyone finding this what are you doing for the autumn term? I have heardof one school which is refusing to start using the new framework until further training has been given. I look forward to hearing all your thoughts as I'm really trying hard not to feel too over whelmed by it all. Why do they always change it just as you have got everything up and running !!

Hi nellie and welcome to the forum :o

I know there have been a lot of problems with the Interactive Planning Tool and lots of complaints. There doesn't seem to be any guidance at all for FS with regards to the Framework, even those LAs who have produced planning don't seem sure what to do with reception. One thing to remember is that the Lit & Num Frameworks aren't statutory so we don't have to follow them. The best planning I've come across is http://www.dcseducation.org/view_folder.as...;level5=1148#17 http://numeracy.cumbriagridforlearning.org...category_id=128

Thanks Marion,

I will keep you informed if I come across any other little gems but both of those links look very useful. I hope I can be of some help in the future.

Hi,

Have I got it wrong-I thought we were getting more training on this and that the new frameworks didn't need to be used until Sept 2008-am I wrong, or getting confused with new Early Years Curriculum?

Thanks Marion

Our school has been using the old framework mixed age planning and our authority hasn't offerd us anything else as yet regarding the new frameworks.
