Guest Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Hi all the outdoor environment is our first topic next term we are looking at school grounds, village, wildlife area and the local woods. Any activity ideas gratefully received!!!
Guest Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 We did a large interactive display of our local environment, features such as post box, phone box, shops, blossom etc etc, added pictures of the children on local outings, ie: jumping in the mound of autumn leaves, local park, beach, library, shops etc. We then took photos of the children riding bikes, walking poses. laminated them and the children used these to interact with the roads and paths on the display. We have also re-enacted Going on a bear hunt using features of our local environment. We are lucky we are near a brook ( mud), a sewers ( tunnel, although we don't go in it !!), field of long grass, alleyway overgrown with bushes for the forest etc etc. Have fun. There is nothing like real experience and see where the children take it from there. Peggy
HappyMaz Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 It looks to me as if you have a permanent display space Peggy - you're so lucky! Am going to have a long hard think about how I can achieve something similar using the movable boards that we have to pack away at the end of our session! Lovely picture. Maz
