OlayaTapestrySupport Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 There are a few situations when you might find yourself needing to send a new activation email or having to retry a user's activation through a different method, i.e. the first one was lost among the spam mail, the activation email expired after 30 days, the account was left as 'not activated' when you first added the user to the account, or you received relatives via a transfer from another setting. Retrying an activation is very straight forward, and you can do so as many times as necessary. It is important to bear in mind, however, that you can try reactivating accounts for activating and not activated users only (learn more about user status here). Also note that if you are resending an activation email when the user is already activating, then the subsequent activation email will invalidate the former activation email. Only the most recent activation email sent will contain a valid link for activation and the user will need to access this link in order to complete their activation. To retry a user's activation, first you will need to find the corresponding user in your 'manage relatives/staff' list. If you already know whether they are 'activating' or 'not activated', then you can filter by those status directly. If you do not know or are unsure about their status then you can ask yourself the following questions: Have I ever sent them an activation email? If the answer is no, then they will be not activated. If the answer is yes, then you will need to consider; Did I send the activation email over 30 days ago? If the answer is yes, the will be not activated, as the activation email would have expired. If the answer is no, then they will still be activating. If still you are unsure, do not worry, it will only take you a bit longer to find them! We'll start by looking at how to retry the activation for individual users. To skip to the section on retrying multiple users' activations, click here. Retrying the activation for individual users So, to find the profile you need to retry the activation for, first of all you will have to go to control panel (1) > manage relatives/staff (2), which will depend on the user type. When in the corresponding list (for the purpose of this tutorial I will be looking into relatives) click on the filter & sort (3) bar and change the 'status' to 'activating/not activated' (4). If you already know their status, you can navigate straight to the correct one. If you do not, you will have to select one first, check if they are in that list, and, if not, go back to the page filters and search for the other status. Once you have found the user you'd like to send a new activation email to, click on the cog (1) by their profile and then select 'activate' (2). Please note that if the user is 'activating' the corresponding option will read 'retry activation'. This will take you to a screen that will give you three activation options: send activation email (1), generate activation link (2) and activate manually (3). Send activation email: this will issue a new activation email that will be automatically send to the user's email address. As mentioned above, any new activation emails will invalidate any still valid activation links. It is also possible that this ends up in the spam/junk mail folder, so please do let the user know you have issued an activation email for them. Generate activation link: this option will produce a URL for you to then forward to the user. By visiting that URL, the user will be able to create a password and activate their account. Activate manually: you are also able to activate their account straight away by setting them up with a random password and PIN number. Please note that the user will not receive a confirmation email if you decide to activate their account this way. You'd have to either send them their password, or let them know that their account is now active and they can request a reset password email by clicking on 'having trouble logging in?' on www.tapestryjournal.com to gain access to their account. Retrying the activation for multiple users You can also send activation emails in bulk by selecting the relatives you'd like to send the activation email to (1) and then choosing 'activate/retry activation' (2) on the drop down menu that will pop up at the bottom of the screen. Remember to then press 'Go' (3)! You will then be able to choose whether to 'do nothing' or 'send email' (1) in case you have selected a relative you didn't want to send the activation email for. Once happy with the options, click on 'send activation emails' (2). So this is how you can retry a user's activation if something didn't work out as expected the first time around. I hope it was all clear, but if you have any further doubts or believe that your case is slightly different, then please do not hesitate to contact us on customer.service@eyfs.info.
