Not receiving notifications

This tutorial will help you work out why a staff member or relative has not received a notification.

There are a few things to check before looking through the flowchart; firstly, you will need to check whether you have the permission enabled on your account that allows staff and/or relatives, to receive notifications.

You can check this by going to the Control Panel on your account (1) and selecting 'User Permissions' from the left-hand menu (2). You will then need to choose the appropriate 'Staff' or 'Relatives' tab at the top of the page (3). Finally, click on the 'Notifications' option (4). 

 

 

Here the option 'Receive notifications' will need to be set to permitted (1). If not, you can click on the 'Edit' button to change it (2). 

 

The next thing you can check is that the staff members/relative's email address is correct on your Tapestry. You can check this on the Control Panel by selecting either Manage Staff or Relatives (1) and then clicking on their name in the list (2). 

 

 

In the 'User Details' section on the right hand side you can check their email address (1).

If it is not correct you can edit their account to be under the correct one by clicking on the 'Edit' button above the user details (2).

 

 

Finally, if they are a staff member, you can ask them to check whether they have it set to only notification receive notifications for their key children. This is important to check if you don't use key children on Tapestry in your setting or if they want to receive notifications for all children. If they are not a staff member, you can skip straight to the flow-chart.

For a staff member to check whether they have it set so they only receive notifications for their key children, they just need to login through the browser version of Tapestry, click on their name in the top right-hand corner (1) and select 'Edit Preferences' from the drop-down (1). 

 

 

 

On the next screen, they just need to click on the 'Change Notification Preferences' button. 

 

 

At the top of this page, if they have the option 'Only send me notifications about my key children, or changes to observations I authored' selected, they will need to untick the box and then save.
