    This is a very special day!
     
    Total lunar eclipse is common enough, roughly every couple of years visible from the UK.
     
    Full moon to coincide with the winter solstice is rarer.. averaging every 30 years..although we wont actually see this again until 2094.
     
    But for both to happen together, this is very rare.. maybe around every 400 years.
     
    so, pop the 21st December in your calendar... first and only time you will ever see a full moon total eclipse coincide with the winter solstice..
     
    Let's hope for clear skies, the winter full moon (often called cold, long night or oak moon) can be extremely bright at this time of year.. even better if we have snow...
