Hi
Can anyine tell me what they are and whether any pre-school is eligible, We have just got a new computer in our setting and we got a new mouse with the tewsco vouchers and that came with a winnie the pooh pre-school game, I also downloaded some off of a school site that were really good but should we be doing mroe with ICT rather than jsut a computer?

It seems to be different in different parts of the country. Our preschool gets sent the money every year as a cheque. They have to be spent on software (although there may be a few DVDs that are allowed as well). This is getting ridiculous as we really don't need any more software!
Maybe you have pretend telephones, cash tills, washing machines etc that you use for role play. Don't forget that all counts too.

Ask your early years advisor, or funding office

we get sent a letter each year to sign to say we have suitable equipment and they then send a cheque which we have to spend on Software etc. from a suitable supplier who is registered with curriculum on line, as said mostly software, but also we get DVDs, and now bee bots,

we have to declare we are using the ELcs to the company when we buy,
not all is covered we so far have not found anywhere to use ELcs to buy the role play stuff mentioned by Carolyn.

as I understand it, preschools ARE eligible, but it depends on you having a certain number of children receiving NEG.We haven't had any credits yet, as we're a small group, so haven't had the task of deciding how to spend them! Things are looking up though!

There is a very good set of CD roms from the Primary National Strategy called 'Learning and Teaching using ICT', there are CD's covering Foundation Stage to Yr 6. The FS CD gives some ideas of how to use ICT that are not just related to computer work. I know they are free to schools, but not sure if you need a DFEE number to order.I am afraid I can't do one of the fancy 'click here' links, so will just add the website address for you and hope it works .

Inge could you please confirm where you have used your ELC's to buy Bee Bots? I have now had emails from TTS and PinkCow and they have both said that unless you buy a mega expensive bundle of software and they throw in for free, they are not covered as ELC's are for software only.

Here is the email reply I received from the Account Manager at Pink Cow

Dear Sharon

Further from your email dated 9th November 2006. I can confirm that unfortunatley Bee-Bots are not elc's eligable, however if you order this with software we can then call it a bundle, which can then be classed as elc eligable as the goverment has agreed a 80- 20% split ie. 80% software 20% hardware.

Alternativley you can lodge elcs with with us and we send you an invoce for a pick n mix bundle for the amount you want invoiced for. you can then order your bee bots with the lodged elc's.

With regards to both of these options you will need to be a member of our select service, which is a completley free service we provide for schools if you look on our website you will find more information, alternativley you can call me to discuss further.

that is how we got them then, select customer and spent all our ELCs with them over the year, so classed as part of a bundle I suppose even if the other items were DVDs with a couple of CD roms

Used them because of the free trial period!
