don't know if this is relevant to any one but did you know you can contact a freedom of information officer in your local authorities and request information on how the money for children's centre has been divided. also i think you can find out how much the money authorities get for schools for each child. from what i can find out each child is now allocated £3600 if they are in main stream and what most authorites are doing because pre-school is classed as half day they are sort of halving the £3600 for the pre-schools. per child that is. hence the approx £1500 we get for 2 and half hours. does that make sense!!! I thought just to wind our local lot up I might do a request! keep them on their toes. so it seems the NEG money does not get paid separately to the authorities but in with the school budgets.

so does that mean that £600 per child per year is used for admin????
That is an awful lot of money per LEA.
Do the schools get the total of £3600 or is some of that taken off for admin as well????

from what i can find out the LEA's are given the 3600 per child for I think all children in the school system. they then take out the amount that is given to settings for the "NEG". this can differ from area to area depending on what the area is like. deprevation and rural etc. hence the reason why we all get different. i think they set the amount themselves. how much they take off for admin i don't know but it should be in their accounts for last year which we should be able to access, from what i can find out through the freedoim of information act that allows the public to know where public money is going. at least thats how i have interpreted it. it will be interesting to find out how much we are allowed to know. I was told that we should be allow to know the allocations of where the money goes.
i do know that you can find out how much each authority is given in the way of money because the Dfes have told me that before when i asked. make sure you have a big piece of paper and are good at writing down numbers in there millions otherwise you miss a few noughts

The thing is will knowing this information actually change anything. I do know that the safe our nurseries campaign group will have a stand at the Early Years exhibition in London, they will be giving out info about the campaign re NEG and a chance to sign their petition.

to far for us to get to from here would be nice if they moved it around the country a bit.
did any one know that there is a consultation taking place about the amount of annual leave people are entitled to. it looks as though it will go up to 28 days instead of the 20 that we have to pay now. another weeks holiday pay to find. looks like my prices will have to go up.!!
