I'm a PGCE student on my final placement in a nursery class. Our topic this term is food. We have already transformed the role play area into a cafe. Does anyone have any good activities/ideas for this topic? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Joanne, welcome aboard! :)
We did a similar topic when I was working in a pre-school. We had various scenarios - cafe, bakers shop, even a biscuit 'production line'!
One of the most popular was when we set up a 'MacDonalds' - the local outlet was really helpful and gave us STACKS of resources, including huge posters and cardboard 'cut-outs', various packaging and lots of hats etc.
The roleplay developed until just about everything was somehow connected. The set up , initially planned for one week, finally ran for three!
