Tapestry Newsletter October 2020

EmilyTapestrySupport

Hi Weavers,

We hope those of you who have returned to your schools/settings for the academic year are settling back in and adapting to your new routines.

This month has been an exciting one here at Tapestry with the launch of our newest feature, Child Login. This has been a much-requested feature and we have been working hard to create a child-friendly version of Tapestry, so we are delighted the beta for this is now available.

Child Login allows you to enable your Tapestry account so children can log in from specific computers at your setting and/or allow them to log in from home. Children can then access the child-friendly version of Tapestry to see observations that have been made for them and upload their own. If you use the Activities feature, then they will also be able to see planned activities made visible for them.

To learn how to use this new addition, you can watch this video or take a look at the tutorials in the ‘Child Login’ section of our main tutorials page and if you would like to find out more about how Child Login can enhance teaching and learning in your school or setting, you can read our article on Tapestry.info.

Up until now, Tapestry has always been designed for adults to use, so we would love to hear what you and the children you work with think about this new feature. If you have any feedback or questions about it, please get in touch with us by emailing customer.service@eyfs.info.

Podcasts

New episodes of our podcast are released every week where we cover a range of topics such as the new Development Matters, racism and anti-racism in Early Years and challenging male stereotypes in the childcare sector. We are joined by some knowledgeable guests, including Dr Julian Grenier, author of the new Development Matters, Liz Pemberton Director of The Black Nursery Manager Ltd (Early Years Anti-racist Training and Consultancy), and Wendy Scott, President of TACTYC and early years representative on the board of NAPE.

You can listen to all our podcast episodes from our Simplecast page as well Apple podcasts, Spotify and Google Podcasts.

Cheque Payments

If you are planning on making payment for any outstanding Tapestry invoices you have by cheque, please note that we changed our business address last year, so all cheques should be sent to:

65 High Street

Lewes

East Sussex

BN7 1XG

Please ensure you provide a remittance slip with the cheque which includes the invoice number/s the cheque relates to.

If you have any queries about making a payment, please get in touch with us by emailing customer.service@eyfs.info.

Feature Focus: Memos

To help you with your parental communication, earlier this year we added a new feature to Tapestry called Memos. This was designed so you could share messages such as a notices, reminders, announcements etc. with parents/carers, just like a virtual bulletin board.

You can link individual children or groups of children to memos as well as including photos, videos and documents such as PDFs, Word documents and PowerPoints.

To learn how to enable and use this feature on your account, you just need to take a look at the two tutorials linked below.

  1. Enabling memos
  2. Memos

Memos aren’t currently available on the app versions of Tapestry, but we are working on adding them!

If you have any questions about Memos, please get in touch with us by emailing customer.service@eyfs.info.
