As ever, there’s been lots going on at Tapestry, so let’s take a look at all the other recent Tapestry news.

New iOS App

It’s been fantastic seeing so many of you downloading our new iOS app and hearing from some of you about it. For those of you that aren’t aware, our new iOS app includes lots of great new features, such as page filters, an offline mode and push notifications. Whilst we are very happy with the new app and the features we’ve been able to add, we are still working on improving it. Therefore, if you have any feedback or suggestions about the new app, we would love to hear from you! You can do this by emailing us at customer.service@eyfs.info

If you haven’t downloaded the new app already, you can do so from the App store by searching for ‘Tapestry’. The new app is labelled ‘Tapestry Journal’ and has a colourful logo, whereas the old version of the app is called ‘Tapestry Classic’ and has a grey logo. For more information about the new app and how to download it, please see this article.

We do also have a new version of the app for Android, but this is still in ‘beta’, meaning we are currently making changes to it and ironing out any little issues. If you would like to download the new version of the Android app, you just need to follow the instructions on this page

Tapestry in Australia

This month we have added two new Australian frameworks to Tapestry, the Victorian Early Years Learning Development Framework and the Developmental Milestones. As well as this we’ve made some changes to the existing Early Years Learning Framework, such as adding more tracking screens.

We’ve also launched a separate Australian information website which is accessible to those of you in Australia from the same URL as our UK one, tapestry.info. Please note you will only be taken to the Australian website if you are actually in Australia, otherwise you will be taken to our UK website. If you would like to know more about Tapestry in Australia, you can get in touch with us on our new Australian support email address, support@tapestryjournal.com.au.

Pre-Key Stage 1 and 2 Framework

We have now been able to add the Pre-Key Stage 1/2 framework to Tapestry! You’ll be able to assess with this framework within your observations and there are also tracking screens which allow you to see how many statements have been assessed for an individual child or for a group of children.

A manager on your account can enable this framework on your account by following this tutorial and if you want to learn how to use the tracking screens, this tutorial will explain them to you.

Tapestry Training

If you would like to make sure you are getting the most out of your Tapestry account or would like some extra support with it, you might want to think about setting up one of our bespoke, remote training sessions with one of our Tapestry experts. We run these Monday-Friday 9:30am-4:30pm (UK time) and they cost £30 +VAT per half hour.

In these sessions we can go over any areas of Tapestry you aren’t sure about and we can answer any questions you have. If you would like some more information about them or are interested in setting one up, please contact us by emailing tapestry.support@eyfs.info

Feature Focus: Assessments Tab

In this month’s Feature Focus, we’re going to look at the ‘Assessments’ page. This was designed to help people with their moderation as it allows you to select an assessment framework, area and aspect to filter your observations by, and it will then show you only observations that contain that specific assessment type. It will allow you to will also show you the actual assessment that is included in the observation.

This can page be found on the browser version of Tapestry on the main observations page. To access it, you just need to click where it says ‘Assessments’ at the top of the screen.

You can use the normal Tapestry page filters to narrow down the observations you see here too, for example you could select an individual child or a specific group of children.
For more information about this screen and to see how to export observations in bulk from there, please take a look at this tutorial
