Tapestry CPD
We are excited to introduce our newest initiative: Tapestry CPD.
Available for all full staff and managers on your account, Tapestry CPD brings you courses to support your professional learning, as well as training to help you with using Tapestry in your setting.
In collaboration with sector experts, such as Siren Films, our experienced education and support teams are creating engaging and interactive content that you can access at a time that works best for you.
We would love to hear what you think of it.
A Beginners Guide to Ableism
Firstly, I want to draw your attention to this new document: A Beginner’s Guide to Ableism.
This has been created by autistic Speech and Language Therapist Emily Lees, a speaker at our last Tapestry Education Conference. This resource has been designed to help settings to have important and much-needed conversations about ableism. The document is completely free and you can download a copy from our website.
Price changes
On March 1st our prices will be increasing slightly. Please see information below on the exact new figures. If your renewal invoice is due to be generated after March 1st, it will use this new pricing structure. If your renewal invoice is due to be generated before March 1st, it will use the current pricing structure. These prices are per year.

P Scales Removed
We will be removing the P Scales assessment framework on February 21st
The Government have now replaced P Scales with The Engagement Model and The Pre-Key Stage Standards. You can add The Engagement Model to Tapestry using Flags (see our tutorial on adding bespoke frag sets) and we have a separate assessment framework for The Pre-Key Stage Standards (you can turn that on from the ‘Assessments’ section of your control panel).
If you are still using the P Scales and you wish to keep a copy of any of your assessment data please make sure to download it before the 21st of February.
You can do that by exporting a PDF and/or CSV of the Summative Assessment Individual and Group View screens (found in the Tracking section of your account), and by exporting PDF journals for the children with P Scale assessments. Just follow our PDF export tutorial and make sure to include P Scale assessments.
This will not affect any other assessment framework on your account and all of your observations will still exist – it will just be the P Scale assessments themselves that will disappear (as though you’d just turned off P Scales).
Changes to Cherry Garden
In the light of more recent research, Cherry Garden school have made minor alterations to some of their branch maps. This means we are updating the framework on Tapestry as well to reflect those changes.
If you’ve been using the Cherry Garden framework on Tapestry, these changes may have an effect on the assessments you have made up to now, so I thoroughly recommend reading this post which details what is changing and when It’s changing.
Android update available
There’s an update available for our Android app! The update includes a few bug fixes so please ensure you update your app via the PlayStore as soon as possible. It will be version 4.0.6.
The APPG Section of our Forum
Lastly, you may already be aware that Tapestry is one of the sponsors for the APPG for Childcare and Early Education. To keep you up to date with news from the APPG, we have a space on our Forum with information about it.
One of our newest forum posts is all about how you can attend an APPG meeting – they are open to anyone and are currently held over Zoom. The APPG meetings have speakers talking on a different topic each time. It’s a chance to see how MPs are informed about the early years sector and how the process of raising awareness of early years provision works. If you would like to attend the next APPG meeting, details on how to sign up can be found in this forum post.
