I used to be able to click on the Tapestry sign at the top of page and get into Tapestry , but now i cant ?  how do you get onto tapestry from the forum  please ?

I nearly gave our Senco lady (who comes into advice us every now and then) a cup of coffee that was a year out of date!!!! :lol: :huh: :unsure: .Thankfully she did laugh ! No one in our setting drinks coffee so we had not noticed !

I did promise her that i would buy a new one before she returns ::1a .

We use dried food alot in our setting and we have used fresh food in the past in home corner ::1a to practice cutting etc (not with sharp Knives though!!!!)

We are a small committee run pack away pre school. We have been given some money to spend on Technology and the staff all have different ideas !

Have other settings had this opportunity? and if so what did you buy?

What kind of Technology equipment do others have at their settings ?

What have your children enjoyed?

Had such a lovely week last week last Friday came home buzzing could not wait for Monday !

THIS WEEK!!!!!!! not sure why but yesterday just could not wait for day to finish ! then had to go and buy things for Chinese New Year on Monday.

Wonder if anyone from Ofsted ever read these comments AND CARE?!!!!!!!!!!!! i love my job but feel overwhelmed with the paper work etc and im not in management!

Have seen 2 of my key children parents this week and they both said in their words !" i really dont care about this Crap! as long as **** is happy , and He/She is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I have downloaded signs for different areas , name cards, pictures of winter,Autumn Christmas baubles ,fireworks with numbers on etc. Playdough mats with numbers and Alphabet on . All of these are laminated !!!!!!!!!!!!

They are lovely and bright and can be used again and again. I work in a church hall pre school and i feel it brightens up the different areas.

In the past have printed up toy money etc ( i know you can buy it but we where concerned that smaller children may put in mouth.

Our children have enjoyed looking at the pictures .

Now looking for Chinese New Year, Pancake day ,Valentines day etc.

I had know idea about S********X but i wont use the site again !. Thats why i am looking for other sites to use .

Although i find myself looking for the resources when i should be doing paperwork!!!!!!!!! I HATE PAPERWORK !

I work at a village pre school too , there is a Day Nursery not far to us ,in the past we have had children leave Nursery and come to us !

As a parent myself none of my children went to a day nursery they went to the local play group as someone else said some parents prefer the smaller settings .

......and Chrissie - it was me that first raised the issue of your recommendation of that other site - I did not and would not 'tell you off'...........

Have deleted all the files off my computer now just trying to find other reliable sites that have the same sort of resources !

I wont throw the bits away but i wont use the site AGAIN!

After being TOLD OFF for using S********X :unsure: last week. What is the best site to use that is free or not too expensive !

I know Twinkl and TES.

Are there any i should keep well away from ! apart from 'S' ?

Would prefer British sites .

Some look good but you have to pay a monthly or yearly subscription ,which is fine but dont want to waste my money !!!!!!!!!

We make it a FUN time !!!!!!!!!!!(are children not allowed to have fun now !)

We only do it for 5 min a day,ok the younger ones may not understand but the older ones do .Through out the session we talk about colours etc ie the bowels and cups for snack.

Our colour table has been a huge success and the children have loved bringing the objects in and taking them straight to the table.

ok ooppssss just googled is there still a issue regarding this site as the problem occured a few years ago!

The old, shape and colour theme eh? Not very inspirational in the way their implementing it, is it.....bor-ring!

We have just Started doing this or rather we do letter/colour of the week........... and the children have loved it . We have encouraged them to bring objects from home to put on the COLOUR table or things that begin with the letter.

The parents have commented on how the children have been searching for things at home to bring in and they have been recognizing the letters .

We talk about the letter/sound and colour at circle time. We have been doing lots of mark making,looking at the shape of the letter.Looking at their names etc

It does not have to be expensive to change Role Play area . For hairdressers i saved and asked parents to bring in empty/clean shampoo bottles etc (the smell stays for ages!) We had hair magazines donated by a parent . we brought some brushes/combes hair ties etc toy or real small Hairdryers/straighteners with wires plugs removed !. plastic mirrors.

Our boys LOVE maps we put out travel mags ,a large map , magnifying glass ,telephones paper on clip boards and pencils.

Building site today we had Hard Hats out with levels ,measuring tapes, tools clipboards paper and pencils , and bits of wood that we have had for ever. They made a racing car and a railway track!!!!!!!!!!!! and lots of Towers.I have asked a parent if he could bring in some building suppliers mags .

Parents are a great at bringing things in if asked .

Real food in Role play/Kitchen area is always a hit !

No one really knows what their key children are interested in as no one really spends any time playing with their key children, they are too busy getting children to make something for their books!

We have been told that the art/craft activities should be child led/choice we used to get the children to do the same thing to take home everyday but due to a shortage of staff this is not possible all the time. We put out free painting ,sticking ,drawing which a adult keeps an eye on but children do themselves.

Do you not have an ALL ABOUT ME BOOK ? the parents feels it in letting us know their childs likes and dislikes etc.

at least once a week we try to take our key children into small group to do small activities or we do one to one for 5 min.

Surely when you do observations and fill in quarterly reviews you can see where each child is at and their NEXT STEPS.

Pininterest ,sparklebox, Activity Village are great for ideas.

staffing is a huge problem for us too!!!!

We need to find a new manager and a level 3. We are only a small setting we have a waiting list and for once we are going to be fine children wise in Sep.

We have been advertising but no luck at mo.

Wish i had the guts to take it on but the responsibility and paperwork scares the life out of me.

EY has changed so much over the last 25 yrs and in alot of ways not for the best.

At least the children and their parents seem happy It is so scary how one bad apple!!! can ruin the whole apple cart !

We use chairs and drape a old Duvet cover over them . The Managers mum is going to make us ones with velcro attached so we can stick pictures posters to them .

We were told we needed to get one for the health and safety of the staff? ! back etc

Unfortunately there is no room in either toilets and the only space there is the hall and the stage .

Hi i work at a pack away pre school that is based in a church Hall which has very limited storage.

We have been advised by our early years adviser that we should have a changing station with steps up to it to change our nappies ! .

At present we have always changed nappies on the stage behind a curtain.

Of course in the past most children who entered pre school were not in nappies but as the age has dropped most of the 2 yr olds we have a now in nappies !

I just wondered what have pack away pre schools do ? This piece of equipment is going to be very expensive and bulky and not easy to move .

Ant advice and experience would be appreciated .

We are a pack away pre school in a church hall our mud kitchen is an old wooden kitchen that had been stuck in shed and not used for years !

I place a large plastic sheet on floor ( we only have use of a car park which is closed of by a large gate).

The mud kitchen is in the large shed ,i carry it out and put on top of plastic sheet.

I then have a large recycling box full of bits and pieces for them to use .

I fill up the bowl in the kitchen with top soil every session or when it needs refreshing.

We post laminated name cards into a post box ! For the younger children a sticker (fairy , truck , pepper pig etc) put next to name to help with recognition .

We also used to put laminated apples with childs picture on a tree when they went outside but with soooooo many children now this has not been possible .
