Early Years News
Data supplied by the Recruitment and Employment Federation (REC) regarding job vacancies in the early years, shows that in January, vacancies had increased by 146.2% on pre-pandemic levels. You can read a short summary of the data by Early Years Alliance here. Meanwhile, the Department for Education (DfE) have launched a recruitment campaign to encourage more people to work in Early Years. This includes adverts available on YouTube and being shown on TV and in a variety of venues around the country. You can watch the video advert from this link. As part of the recruitment campaign, the DfE is also trialling a sign-on bonus programme in some Local Authorities in England, where each eligible new/ returning worker will receive up to £1,000 (after tax and NI).

The Beginner’s Guide to Establishing Meaningful Relationships with Families, is written by speech and language specialist teacher and early years and racial trauma consultant Jaziea Farag. Like all the guides in the series, this is designed to support meaningful conversations in your team. You can download the guide for free from here.
Three new courses are now live on Tapestry CPD. An Introduction to Intersectionality is based on the Beginner’s Guide to Intersectionality in the Early Years written by Warda Farah. And to support your use of Tapestry, we have Tapestry Reflections and Reflective Practice, and Activities on Tapestry.
