Guest
Has anyone any experience of having a full room plastered and how much it was. I have been stripping wallpaper and chunks od plaster have come off. It now needs skimming off and I have absolutely no idea of how much a plasterer will charge. Thanks - Frustrated DIY person! Guest
Hi Gwen. We have had rooms skimmed in our old house. From what I remember from a few years ago (5 or so) a normalish sized room cost about £90.
Guest
We had every room in the house skimmed 12 years ago, it was £70.00 per room medium sized rooms
Guest
Hi - i had a medium sized front bedroom re-plastered a year ago (including ceiling) & it was £300 - this did include taking off artex on the ceiling & 1 wall though. hope you find a good plasterer - how lovely is it to have time to do DIY though - even if the jobs you think are small and quick turn out to be the opposite - happy holidays one and all!! Guest
I don't know, but I know a man that does, so I gave him a call ( brother-in-law). Bearing in mind, we are from Kent, regional differences in costs can be significant. A room 17' X 12' ( average front room) for a basic skim is £200. other tips; Only have the walls that need doing done, don't have to do the whole room if not needed. The above cost is based on 2 plasteres working for 1 day, £90 per day per plasterer labour charge + £20 for the plaster = £200. A room that size should take 2 plasters 1 day, or 1 plasterer 2 days to do. his words of advice to any DIY'ers stripping wallpaper is that Steamers are the main cause of plaster coming off walls, if steamers are left on the wall for too long, the heat blows the plaster off. So use steamers sparingly, or better still avoid using them if at all possible. Peggy

Marion
no it was plasterboard but the people who lived there before had painted the walls with gloss and we had so much steam the ceining gave in before the wallpaper. No in this house the previous owners artexed everything...........including the shower enclosure...........steamed the plaster off the walls trying to move the artex maybe DIY isnt my forte?
