Hi all, I want to spend the first term focusing on speaking and listening in literacy. Does anyone have any interesting and fun ideas to do this?

Something we've done recently is a "What would you do if.....?" game. We had lots of cards in a hat, children took one out, and adult helped them to read it. Other children were invited to join in the discussion. Examples such as:

What would you do if

* a lion arrived on your doorstep?

* you had no food at home?

* your teddy bear sang you a song?

* a space rocket came to pick you up from nursery?

* your telephone kept on ringing?

I'm sure other members can come up with some originals!!

Have you seen the Ros Bailey books?

We use Lola the listening leopard and the children love it.
