Guest
I have 18 Children leaving to start school this September. Our Nursery is on a school site but not part of the school. We have 9 of the 18 children starting in September at this particular school. Parents who children will be starting this school have been informed that their child will not be attending every morning(like they did last year), but they will be only attending twice a week due to a high number of children starting in reception. After half term all children will be attending Reception full time. The parents have asked me if I still have some sessions available in September so that their child can come to us when not attending school. All children will still be only 4 years old. Does anyone know if I can claim the Education Grant for these children who will be attending the Nursery?
Helen
Hi KAP, and welcome to the site My guess is no. This is based on my experience of children attending my nursery for a couple of mornings, and simultaneously attending the state nursery nearby for some afternoon sessions. The state nursery was able to have funding for the full 5 sessions, whether or not they attended, but I was unable to claim the grant for any. It's very unfair, but I would imagine it's the same scenario if you have some children attending a reception class and a nursery simultaneously. I'd love to be proved wrong, though
bubblejack
In the past I have been able to claim for children who attend state nursery and pre-school. The early years always phone me to query if they are attendinding with me also but I have always received the funding for these children. I couldn't afford to let them attend without funding anyway. Puddleducks
I think it also depends on your EECU - why don;t you ring them direct and ask?
Guest
In Kent the school get all the funding irrespective of how many sessions the children attend. We have children come to us in the afternoons ( local preschool, not on school site) but parents have to pay fees. I just wish they had taken the opportunity to have a seamless EYFS by not changing settings when children reach 4 yrs, but all children stay in the same setting as the one they are in at the start of the EYFS until the end of it. But tha't another post. Peggy
