Guest
Hi. I have just remembered that I needed to come up with an outdoor area risk assessment but I'm really not sure what to include on it. I have only ever written one other risk assessment before but that was for indoors! We are in a community centre so the garden area is shared between our pre-school and the youngsters who use it during the evenings and weekends. Any ideas as to what I could put on my risk assessment? All help gratefully received! Thanks!
Guest
If you type outdoor play risk assessments or safety checks into google it brings up some example ones

Guest
I have just had a look on google and the Nottingham School's Website has loads of risk assessment examples under their Health and Safety section. Anyone, like me, having to make risk assessment sheets should give it a look! Thanks again, Lola!

Alison
great some more useful info!! thanks for the link Clare that's another thing I was looking for! looking at the web site - I had been looking for some kind of risk assessment on plants I enjoy gardening but know very little aboutplants my own garden is full of cultivated weeds and I refer to it as a mature garden (the weeds have been there longer that I have!) Also on that link has and I notice that "sun exposure" has been mentioned in the risk assessment, we had considered it but not thought to write about it in the risk assessment (silly when I think about it, where was I planning to write about it?) we are just about to go outside (well not this very minute ) we have the area (an enclosed car park) we've bought the toys/equipment and we are just waiting for the fence to be finished and then out we will go. We had carried out risk assessments useing our own ideas which appear to be inline with the headings that are on the above web site. (great I did something right! ) I just cannt wait to get the children outside!!!
Guest
I know the feeling! At the moment, we use all our outdoor equipment indoors but now the nice weather is almost here, it'll be great to spend some time outside! My manager has made me promise that I'll do the risk assessment before I take them out, so I'm hoping to get it done for when we go back then we can take the children out at last!!
