Normally I split my year 1 / 2 class so that the year 1s stay with me and those year 2s who are ready do phase 6 with my TA. This year this has worked really well as I had 8 in the TA group and just enough space for them to work outside the classroom. Next year my TA will have a group of 14 - which wont work due to spacing. I was wondering how others manage mixed age phonics. I was thinking of not having all the children doing phonics at the same time - but again I am not sure how this would work. Any suggestions gratefully apreciated.
